Do not use the toilet as a waste bin. Food waste and deep-frying fat do not belong in the sewer, as they can cause blockages. Dispose of deep-frying fat, cooking oil, fatty gravy and leftovers in a sealable container with your residual waste.
Products such as condoms, sanitary towels, tampons, nappies and wet wipes are regularly the cause of constipation. Do NOT flush them down the toilet. Large amounts of toilet paper can also cause a blockage.
Shower drains regularly get clogged by hair and soap scum. To prevent clogging, it is wise to remove hairs from the drain after every shower.
Remnants of building materials, such as lubricating oil and paint residues belong to small chemical waste.
If a drain blockage does occur, you can report it to Sewer Cleaning Service (RRS) by calling 0598 69 65 30 to make an appointment for drain unblocking. Caution! Never go to work yourself with chemicals to solve the blockage. This may cause damage to the pipes and in addition, RRS cannot do its job if chemicals have been used.
