From 24 April 2023, all new lettings of student rooms will be subject to a campus contract. This means that you can only rent a room as long as you are enrolled at an educational institution in Groningen or Leeuwarden (MBO, Bachelor, Master or PhD). If you graduate or stop your studies, you may stay in your room for a maximum of one year.

If you are no longer studying, you have to cancel the rent of your room yourself. You must do this within 1 year of finishing your studies.

Are you not studying (any more), but are you looking for accommodation in the municipality of Groningen? Then you can register with WoningNet. Do you expect to stay in Groningen after your studies? Then it is wise to already register during your studies. That way you can build up your registration time.

If you currently rent a room on an open-ended lease, nothing will change.
